Must Tweet Monday: Jacobs Media #js15 #ACCJMS10

This week I am pleased, proud and honored to introduce you to Jacobs Media, the largest radio consulting firm in the United States specializing in Rock formats. The company, formed in 1983 by Fred Jacobs, created the Classic Rock format, and has been a leading force in Alternative and Mainstream Rock. Currently, Jacobs Media services are used by nearly every major broadcasting company, including CBS, Entercom, Emmis, Cox, Greater Media, Citadel, Journal, and others.
Jacobs Media has also provided consulting services to The Corporation For Public Broadcasting, National Public Radio, and public radio stations around the country. Fred and his brother Paul Jacobs and they are two of the most supportive, creative and helpful people in radio today!
For the first time, this year’s event combines three of the radio industry’s most popular conferences: the Urban PD Clinic (December 7th), the Arbitron Client Conference (formerly known as the Radio Fly-In, December 8th) and the Jacobs Media Summit (December 9th) at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore. The topics will focus on the theme for this year’s conference: “Positioning, Mobile and Ratings Strategies for Today and the Future.”
Fred Jacobs aka @fnjacobs has emerged over the past two decades as one of radio’s leading visionaries. He founded Jacobs Media in 1983, when he had the notion that Album Rock could be fragmented by the creation of the Classic Rock format. Today, Classic Rock stands out as the most successful radio format in the last 20 years.
I met Fred at the Conclave this summer and then again at a 140 Character Twitter Conference in Detroit this Fall. I was completed honored and so excited when he and his brother Paul Jacobs asked me to speak at the Jacobs Media Summit on December 9th during the Arbiron Client Conference in Baltimore.
Paul Jacobs aka @PaulJacobsMedia is the “suit” in the company, rising up through the sales ranks to become a General Manager of a major market radio station at age 28. After graduating from Michigan State University in 1976 with a BA in Advertising, Paul immediately went to work selling radio for WNIC-FM in Detroit, where he realized one could actually make money selling air.
